EVAPORATIVE GAS COOLING / ATOSPRAY™ SYSTEM


Cooling a hot gas stream by direct injection of water, which completely evaporates to cool.
This system can be suitable for several industral processes, such as: incinerators, kilns, furnaces, in a wide range of applications:

  • Cement:  Gas Conditioning Tower, Bypass Tower, Kiln End Sprays, Clinker Cooler
  • Steel:  Electric Arc Furnace, Basic Oxygen Furnace
  • Non Ferrous:  Copper or Nickel Converter Offgas Cooling
  • Petrochemical:  Waste Heat Recovery Unit, Cat-cracker
  • Organic:  Surrogate Cooling for Dryers
  • Other miscellaneous

CATALYTIC OXIDIZER

  • No water carryover, no water treatment
  • Protect downstream equipment: ductwork, baghouses, scrubbers
  • Condition gasses for further treatment downstream:  ESP, scrubbers
  • Protect baghouses and permits use of less expensive filter media
  • Particulate conditioning - improve ESP performance

Retention time:  Typically 1 to 6 seconds

When to use Evaporative Cooling System

  • High Particulate gas flow
  • Corrosive or with sticky dust
  • Optimal temperature range 1000°C to 150°C
  • Retrofitting existing equipment or ductwork to add cooling
  • Enhancing existing equipment
  • Spark arrest
